You see “Da Nang is cheap” in one blog and a 7,000,000 VND beachfront resort bill in the next. Both are true. Da Nang has some of the best-value street food and local transport in Vietnam. It also has international-standard resorts, a very expensive hill-top theme park, and hotel rates that swing wildly by season. Since July 2025, the city has also officially absorbed Quang Nam province, so Hoi An and My Son now sit within Da Nang’s administrative area. Prices still differ sharply between them and the city centre. This guide uses 2026 prices at roughly 25,500 VND per US dollar, so you can plan your trip with real numbers.
Why Da Nang Is Good Value (and Where It Surprises You)
Da Nang feels calmer than Hanoi and less hectic than Ho Chi Minh City. A long, clean beach runs along the east side. The Han River cuts through the middle, with the Dragon Bridge arching over it. The Son Tra Peninsula rises green behind the beach, and the Marble Mountains sit to the south. You can eat a 30,000 VND bowl of noodles at breakfast and watch the sunset from a five-star pool by evening, all within 15 minutes of each other.
That mix creates the pricing pattern you need to understand. Local life is cheap: food, coffee, short rides and markets. Tourist-facing products are priced higher: beachfront hotels, theme parks, seafood restaurants on the main beach road and organised tours. Your total depends on how often you cross that line. Many travellers spend about 2,000,000 VND ($78) a day without feeling they are cutting corners, while others burn through 6,000,000 VND ($235) before noon at a resort.
Neighborhoods: Where Your Location Changes Your Costs
Where you sleep sets half of your daily spending, because it decides how you eat and move around.
My Khe Beach and An Thuong
This is the main tourist zone, packed with hotels, cafes and bars. The streets around An Thuong (Ngu Hanh Son side) are popular with long-stay visitors, Korean tour groups and remote workers. Walk two blocks from the sand and prices drop quickly. It suits first-timers, beach lovers and anyone who wants everything on foot.
Han River and City Centre (Hai Chau)
This is the local side of town. Han Market, Bach Dang riverside promenade, cafes and old-school eateries are all here. Hotels are cheaper than on the beach, and food is much cheaper. You are about 10 minutes by Grab from My Khe. It suits budget travellers, foodies and short stays.
Son Tra Peninsula
Quiet, green and mostly occupied by luxury resorts with private beach access. Eating outside the resort means a Grab ride. It suits honeymooners and anyone who wants to disconnect, and it is the most expensive base for daily costs.
Non Nuoc and Ngu Hanh Son
South of the city along the coast, you find newer resorts, golf courses and fewer crowds. It is better value for large resort rooms but quieter at night. It suits families and golf travellers.
Accommodation Prices by Tier
These are typical 2026 nightly rates outside of Tet week and the peak summer weekends.
- Budget: Dorm beds run 120,000–220,000 VND ($5–9). Private rooms in simple hotels or homestays cost 350,000–650,000 VND ($14–25). Look near the Han River or on side streets off Vo Nguyen Giap.
- Mid-range: Three- and four-star beach hotels with a pool cost 800,000–1,800,000 VND ($31–70). Serviced apartments with kitchens, popular on Airbnb, often come in at 700,000–1,500,000 VND ($27–59) and save money on longer stays.
- Luxury: Five-star hotels along My Khe and Non Nuoc start around 2,500,000 VND ($98). Top Son Tra resorts and private villas run 5,000,000–12,000,000 VND ($195–470) or more per night.
Weekend rates in July and August can be 40–60% higher than weekday rates in March. If your dates are flexible, a Tuesday-to-Friday stay saves more than any booking trick.
Attractions and What You Actually Pay to Enter
Da Nang’s best experiences are free or cheap. The one big-ticket item is Ba Na Hills.
- My Khe Beach: Free. Sun loungers cost about 30,000–50,000 VND ($1–2) if you do not buy a drink at a beach cafe.
- Dragon Bridge fire and water show: Free. It runs on Saturday and Sunday evenings at about 9 pm, and the crowd is thick along both banks.
- Lady Buddha at Linh Ung Pagoda (Son Tra): Free. The 67-metre statue looks over the bay.
- Marble Mountains: Entry is about 40,000 VND ($1.60), plus 15,000 VND for the elevator. The caves and pagodas take about two hours.
- Museum of Cham Sculpture: About 60,000 VND ($2.35). Worth an hour for the carvings alone.
- Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge: Around 900,000–1,000,000 VND ($35–39) per adult including the cable car. Food inside is overpriced, so eat before you go. Arrive when it opens to beat the tour buses.
- Sun World Asia Park and Sun Wheel: About 200,000–300,000 VND ($8–12) depending on what you ride. Cheaper than most amusement parks and open into the evening.
Plan one big paid activity and fill the rest of your time with free sights. Three days of beach, bridge, mountain and temple visits can cost less than one visit to Ba Na Hills.
Eating Well: Where Locals Spend vs Where Tourists Overpay
Food is where Da Nang saves you the most money, if you pick the right streets. Stand at a plastic stool stall near Han Market at 6 am and you will smell pork bones simmering and hear the clatter of metal spoons against bowls. A bowl of mi quang there costs 30,000–45,000 VND ($1.20–1.75).
Markets and street food alleys
- Han Market and Con Market: Their food courts and surrounding lanes serve breakfast noodles, sweet soups and grilled snacks for 20,000–50,000 VND ($0.80–2). Con Market is more local and less touristy.
- Hoang Dieu and Le Duan streets: A concentration of banh xeo and nem lui restaurants. The famous Ba Duong banh xeo alley is on Hoang Dieu. Expect 60,000–120,000 VND ($2.35–4.70) per person for a full meal.
- Helio Night Market: A food-court style night market with grilled skewers, noodles and beer at 25,000–80,000 VND per dish.
- Banh mi stalls near the river: A good sandwich costs 20,000–35,000 VND ($0.80–1.40).
Seafood: where bills get big
Seafood restaurants along Vo Nguyen Giap and Hoang Sa are cheaper than My Khe’s main strip, but you must still weigh everything. Crab, shrimp and fish are priced per kilogram, from 300,000–700,000 VND ($12–27) depending on the species. Ask for the price per kilo and have it weighed at the table. A shared seafood dinner for two usually lands at 500,000–900,000 VND ($20–35). Local-style spots like Be Man and Nam O Beach lean cheaper than beach-view restaurants with English menus.
Cafes and drinks
A Vietnamese iced coffee costs 20,000–35,000 VND ($0.80–1.40). Beach cafes and trendy rooftop spots charge 50,000–90,000 VND ($2–3.50). Local draft beer is about 10,000–25,000 VND, a bottle of Bia Saigon in a restaurant is 20,000–40,000 VND, and a craft beer runs 80,000–130,000 VND ($3–5).
Getting Around: Real Transport Costs
The city is long and thin, so you will use transport daily.
- Airport to city: Da Nang Airport is only about 3 km from the centre and 7–8 km from My Khe. A Grab car costs 60,000–120,000 VND ($2.35–4.70), and a metered taxi is similar. Hotel shuttles charge more.
- Grab bike: A 3–5 km ride costs 15,000–35,000 VND ($0.60–1.40). This is the cheapest way to cover distance without driving yourself.
- Grab car: Typical city rides cost 40,000–100,000 VND ($1.60–4).
- Motorbike rental: 120,000–200,000 VND ($5–8) per day for a scooter. You need a valid licence and insurance; traffic is calmer than Hanoi, though the coastal roads are busy at weekends.
- Bicycle rental: 30,000–60,000 VND ($1.20–2.35) per day. Good for the flat beachfront.
- Public bus: Limited and slow for visitors, and rarely worth the effort. Use Grab instead.
Walking is a pleasure along the riverfront and beach roads, especially in the early morning when the temperature is still around 24–26°C. Midday heat from May to August often pushes above 35°C.
Day Trips: Hoi An, Hue, Cu Lao Cham and More
Day trips can double your daily spending, so choose carefully.
- Hoi An (about 30 km, 45 minutes): Grab car one-way costs 250,000–400,000 VND ($10–16). The Ancient Town ticket is about 120,000 VND ($4.70). Budget 600,000–1,000,000 VND ($24–39) for a full day, including a bowl of cao lau and a boat ride. Go by Grab bike if you are solo, or take a private car and split it.
- Hue (about 100 km, 2.5 hours): The train along the coast is cheaper and prettier than the bus, at about 100,000–200,000 VND ($4–8) one way. Hue’s citadel ticket is about 200,000 VND ($7.85). Most visitors do it in a long day or overnight.
- My Son Sanctuary (about 70 km): Ticket is about 150,000 VND ($6). A morning half-day tour costs 350,000–600,000 VND ($14–24).
- Cu Lao Cham Island (boat from Hoi An): Day tours with snorkelling and lunch are 600,000–1,000,000 VND ($24–39). Seas are calmest between March and August.
- Hai Van Pass: A private rider with a guide costs 600,000–1,200,000 VND ($24–47) for a half-day. The old road winds above the sea and is best in the morning.
Nightlife on Any Budget
Da Nang’s nightlife is relaxed. You will not find Bui Vien-style chaos, but you can find plenty of beer, music and views.
The cheapest evening is free: grab a Bia Saigon from a convenience store and sit on the river wall at Bach Dang to watch the Dragon Bridge change colours. Along An Thuong’s streets, sports bars and pubs offer happy-hour beers for 25,000–50,000 VND ($1–2). Live music venues around the beach roads often have no cover charge.
For rooftop bars, Sky36 and similar spots on the river side serve cocktails at 150,000–250,000 VND ($6–10), with views of the bridge and the lit-up skyline. Beach clubs charge 100,000–200,000 VND minimum spend but often include loungers during the day. Most bars wind down by 1–2 am. The Helio Night Market and the Sun Wheel area at Asia Park are the best bets for an early evening with a family.
Shopping: Markets, Tailors and Souvenirs
Han Market is the main tourist-friendly market, selling dried seafood, coffee, souvenirs and clothing. Bargain gently, and aim for 20–30% off the first price. Con Market is bigger and more local, and better for fresh produce and fabric. For modern shopping with fixed prices and air-conditioning, Vincom Plaza and Lotte Mart on the city side are reliable, and Lotte also sells supermarket snacks cheaply.
Non Nuoc stone-carving village near the Marble Mountains sells marble statues and ornaments. Small pieces start around 100,000–300,000 VND ($4–12), and shipping is possible for larger pieces. Hoi An is the place for tailored clothing: a shirt costs 300,000–600,000 VND ($12–24), a dress 600,000–1,200,000 VND, and a suit 2,500,000–6,000,000 VND ($98–235). Allow at least two fittings. Coffee beans, dried mango and tea from Han Market make easy, cheap gifts at 50,000–200,000 VND per pack.
Best Time to Visit: How Seasons Move Your Price
- February to April (shoulder): Dry, 22–30°C, calm seas and moderate prices. This is the best value period. Note that Tet (late January to February, depending on the year) causes closures and price spikes for about a week.
- May to August (peak): Hot, 30–37°C, sunny and busy. Hotel prices peak, and domestic tourism surges in July and August. The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival usually takes place in this period, which pushes beachfront prices up further.
- September (shoulder): Prices ease, and the weather is often still good.
- October to December (low): Rain, storms and sometimes flooding. Hotels drop 30–40%, but beach days and day trips can be cancelled.
Practical Money Tips
- Carry cash. Markets, street stalls and Grab bikes need VND. Most ATMs cap withdrawals at 3,000,000–5,000,000 VND and charge about 20,000–50,000 VND in fees, so take out larger amounts less often.
- Tipping is optional. Rounding up or leaving 5–10% at restaurants is appreciated, and many places add a 5–10% service charge already.
- SIM cards: A tourist eSIM or physical SIM from Viettel, Vinaphone or Mobifone costs about 100,000–250,000 VND ($4–10) for a month or more of data. The airport counters are convenient but slightly more expensive than city shops.
- Water: Drink bottled or filtered water. A large bottle costs 8,000–15,000 VND.
- Visas: The e-visa for up to 90 days costs $25 (about 640,000 VND). Travellers from many countries, including several in Europe and Asia, qualify for visa-free stays, so check your nationality before paying for anything.
- Siesta hours: Many small local restaurants close between 2 and 5 pm. Markets slow down in the afternoon heat.
- Scams: Agree the fare before you get in a non-Grab taxi.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much money do I need per day in Da Nang in 2026?
Budget travellers can manage on 750,000–1,000,000 VND ($30–39) per day. Mid-range travellers should plan 2,000,000–3,000,000 VND ($78–118). Comfortable trips with beach resorts and private drivers start around 5,000,000 VND ($195) daily. These figures exclude flights and cover lodging, food, transport and activities.
Is Da Nang cheaper than Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City?
Street food and local transport cost about the same everywhere. Da Nang is usually cheaper for mid-range hotels outside peak months, though beachfront resorts and Ba Na Hills tickets cost more than most Hanoi attractions. Overall it feels slightly cheaper than Ho Chi Minh City at the same comfort level.
Can I use US dollars or cards in Da Nang?
Pay in VND almost everywhere. Hotels, resorts, malls and many restaurants accept Visa and Mastercard, but street stalls, markets and Grab bike rides need cash.
What is the cheapest month to visit Da Nang?
Hotels are cheapest from October to December, when rain and typhoon risk push rates down 30–40%. For a better balance of price and weather, choose February to March or early September. Avoid June to August and Tet week, when beach hotels charge their highest rates.
Is Ba Na Hills worth the ticket price?
At around 900,000–1,000,000 VND ($35–39) per adult, it is the priciest single activity in the city. It is worth it for the Golden Bridge, cable car views and French Village if you go early on a weekday. On a tight budget, Marble Mountains and Son Tra cost far less.
